PROMISING batsman Ashwin Raj makes his debut for the full Suffolk side in Sunday’s annual friendly match against Essex 2nd XI.
Raj, who plays for Copdock & Old Ipswichian, has come through the Suffolk Development XI, and is given an early chance to show what he can do at a higher level.
He joins fellow graduates such as Sasha Ward (Bury St Edmunds) and Matt Hunn (Sudbury) in the side for the 50 overs-a-side match at Billericay CC, start 11am.
It will be Suffolk’s opening match of the 2012 season ahead of their Minor Counties Trophy campaign.
Suffolk’s first group game in the MCCA Trophy is against Lincolnshire at Copdock on Sunday, April 22.
Suffolk: T Huggins, B France, M Cull, S Ward, A Raj, C Swallow, C Warn (wkt), J Bishop (capt), S Rees, T Rash, M Hunn. 12th man: J Poulson.
